Would you recommed a featherbed or gel top fiber bed for on top of a mattress?

I am getting a gift for my boyfriend .. featherbeds are comfortable but I also found gel top fiber beds while looking .. i was wondering if anyone had tried both and can tell me which is better? or if anyone had tried the fiber bed and would recommend it?

1. = The Fiber is the thing of the future, but I prefer the feather. I am sure your BF will probably like the one that is a little firmer. If the regular mattress is firm it should not matter much to him.
